Our basic objectives are:</p> <p>1. To ignite a national conversation to re-imagine media and journalism in Canada.</p> <p>2. To celebrate the exciting and innovative experiments in independent and public media currently underway.</p> <p>3. To develop a crowd-sourced plan to support innovative and quality media and independent journalism.</p> <p>It’s an exciting time for media in Canada - our current media system is experiencing a rapid transition due to the crisis in big media and the rise of exciting web-based tools and citizen-powered journalism.</p> <p>Recognizing that there is a void to be filled, we embrace all forms of media – from social media to investigative journalism, and storytelling through diverse forms of art – in order to create a more democratic and informed media system in Canada.</p> <p>We believe that cross media collaboration is essential to tell our stories in today’s media landscape; which includes blogging, music, film, visual arts, new media, print media, podcasts, radio, and television and much more!</p> <p>Now is the time to re-imagine and create what we want Canada’s mediascape to look like.
